Detailing Lexicon
Terminology you should know before hiring an auto body specialist.
- Paint Correction
- The mechanical process of leveling a vehicle's clear coat using abrasive compounds and machine polishers. Unlike cheap waxes that temporarily fill scratches, paint correction permanently removes them by safely shaving microscopic layers of damaged clear coat.
- Ceramic Pro
- A highly repellent nano-ceramic coating that bonds permanently with factory paint. It creates a rigid glass-like shield that protects against Connecticut road salt, bird droppings, and UV damage, eliminating the need for traditional car wax.
- Dual-Action (DA) Polisher
- A specialized detailing machine that oscillates and rotates simultaneously. Formula X uses DA polishers because they safely generate heat to remove scratches without creating the circular "hologram" buffer trails caused by old-school rotary tools.
